TREC Competitions

Four phases of complicity between horse and rider

In English, the word "trek" means a trail crossing and in Arabic it means a "trail", however the origin of the TREC acronym, (which stands for "Techniques de Randonnée Équestre de Compétition"), is naturally very French. This sports discipline was created at the end of the 1980s for trail riders to compare their horses and equestrian skills at events which focused on the qualities necessary for trail riding.

This fantastic equestrian discipline for all outdoor riding enthusiasts comprises four phases to assess both horse and rider.

Two of the phases are inspired by the obstacles and difficulties that can be encountered on a trail ride:

1 - The POR event - Orienteering course

2 - The PTV event - Obstacle course

and two others are designed to test equestrian knowledge and technique:

3 - Presentation of the horse and rider

4 - Control of paces

And the key to success? Perfect complicity between horse and rider.
